The game’s world is the main topic of the next 36 pages with some amazing landscapes, some more buildings, treasure chests, banners and so on.įrom page 257 to 288 there are a multitude of color and B&W sketches about various topics (heroes, enemies, landscapes…):Īnd the last part features “Additional Art” with some stuff I didn’t expect to see in a Finaly Fantasy artbook like low-budget movie posters and stuff like that. As usual, lots of research, furniture designs, trones, toys, etc. The next part is entitled “Housing” and refers to buildings (interior/exterior), not environments, obviously. Next we have what they called “Mounts & Minions”, including the famous Chocobos, unicorns and other tiny/cute characters. Then we have a 36-page chapter about the enemies you can fight in this FF game with some badass designs:

This part also contains info on weapons and other objects. The work they did on the costumes is pretty astounding, there are notes everywhere (with a lot of small text in Japanese and English). The next 80 pages are dedicated to the game’s characters and it includes research, model sheets, sketches and so on. The first chapter, from page 4 to 48 is a collection of pretty amazing illustrations in different formats: So, honestly, I don’t know what it’s about!īut let’s start this review anyway, because even if I’m not a fan and the title is overly complicated, this artbook is pretty great in terms of content! Oh and by the way, in the tradition of Japanese games, the full title of this book is extremely long: “Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, The Art of Eorzea - Another Dawn-”. The cover is rather dark by the way, on the image above you can clearly see the title but in real life, depending on the light, it’s not that easy to read. In terms of format (almost A4) and cover, it’s pretty classic. I guess if you’re reading this, there’s nothing I can say about Final Fantasy that you don’t know so I’ll start with the book right now. I have to say that I’m not a fan of the Final Fantasy series, I know some stuff about it through friends but I never got interested in it myself (I don’t hate it, it’s just not my cup of tea). So, here’s another book lent to me by my good friend Aurélien. Subject: The making of Final Fantasy XIV - A Realm Rebornĭimensions: 21 x 28.5 cm (8.2 x 11.2 in)
